Community Exhibit Development Partnership: A Program of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park
Home & Away: Oakland, California's Prisons, and the Geography of the Heart
Home and Away is a project that documents the effects of mass incarceration on our community in Oakland. Community members created the exhibit in the Peralta House Museum throughout 2015 through writing, photos, and collages they made and brought, adding to visuals, words and a map of California's prisons provided by artist and writer Linda Norton.
What I Hear I Keep: Stories from Oakland's Griots

A magnificent visual and audio art installation based on the West African tradition of griots (pronounced gree-oh) - storytellers who hand down family and community history from one generation to the next - will premiere in February at the Peralta House Museum of History and Community. Come hear the narratives of African American residents of Oakland as they shine a light on the East Bay's past while exploring identity and connection here and now. Add your own stories to this interactive art piece!

Faces of Fruitvale
The Peralta House opened to the public in 2001 with Faces of Fruitvale, and exhibit in which fifty-five neighbors from all over the world and the United States told their stories. Photopanel design by Jeff Norman with audio by Holly Alonso.
