Peralta Rancho Life

Schedule a field trip today!

Students participating in Peralta Rancho Life get a chance to experience everyday life at Rancho San Antonio in the 19th century. This unique hands-on, interactive program immerses the students in the many ways life changed for all the peoples living in the area Ohlone peoples call Huchiun and settlers called Rancho San Antonio with the arrival of Europeans.

Students learn about life on the rancho, from the bricks in the houses to the animals in the vast outdoor fields. They try their hands at cooking tortillas, making adobe bricks, dipping candles, and other rancho activities. At each station, they link colonial activities to Native peoples' experiences, perspectives, and resiliences.

All scripts have been rigorously peer-reviewed and were written in collaboration with academic experts and local Native community members. Peralta Rancho Life is suited to 4th grade curriculum, but can be enjoyed by other grades as well.
